Tommy Morgan's life was turned upside down at the hands of his Alpha. Now, another one is claiming to be his mate. He's not ready to jump into a relationship with anyone, still suffering from nightmares due to the abuse he experienced. Instead, Tommy moves in with his brother, Declan, hoping for the space he needs to heal.
Pennaeth Alpha Benjamin Taylor has his hands full dealing with all the packs across Australia. When he finds his young mate battered and bloody, he knows Tommy is going to need time to recover and come to terms with everything. Ben is more than willing to give his mate anything he needs. Even if that means them living apart for now.
When passion finally ignites with unexpected consequences, Ben knows he'll do anything, fight anyone, to keep his mate safe.

I thought that it was interesting that when Ben met Tommy in the last book, one of the things that was stressed was that Tommy was so much younger than Ben, but other than been constantly referring to his mate as 'pup', that aspect of their relationship seemed to be completely dropped in this book.Other than that, I liked both Ben and Tommy and I loved that for all of Ben's warning others about avoiding unplanned pregnancies, that's exactly what happens too him.
My one question with this world though is 'how do they keep the male pregnancy thing a secret with the Pennaeth Alpha having a pup with his mate?'. I mean, surely the shifters of Australia talk to one another, and it could be kept secret when it's a random couple here and there, but Ben's sort of a big deal...

Ben The Atherton Pack Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Toni Griffin Nick Flint LLC Mischief Corner Books Books Reviews
I enjoyed this story. I followed this author from the Holland Brothers series. This one is okay. I don't really get a sense of the alpha as mate. He works and spends time with Tommy sleeping, but IMHO he is just not well formed enough as a character to be this alpha of alphas. I think that is the weakness of the story. The alpha character needed to be stronger and more present. He just isn't.
Tommy character is suffering, constantly having nightmares. But then he's just over it. I would have liked to have more of a transition than waking up one night after such trauma and being over it. But the author cuts this short so there is no need for the characters to work through it. Tommy had trauma. Had nightmares. Now's he's not. Sex. Mating. The end. It could have been so much richer if the author had filled in the gaps.
Okay read.
While I liked book 1, I truly liked this one better. Ben and Tommy were awesome together and I loved that we got to experience the pregnancy, although I wish the baby would have been born in this book. And as I said in the review of book 1, I wish they had been longer.
I really love this series and hope Ms Griffin continues with it 3 books is not enough I think all the guys need their mates found I really liked Ben and Tommy I was able to connect with both characters
Entertaining second installment of this series. I am really liking this set of stories. Filled with love, laughter and a little angst. Well written and heartwarming. Ben and Tommy are a cute couple, and I am looking forward to their story carrying on in other books!
This book is okay, the writings not bad, the story is pretty good. But, I hate the pregnant guys thing... no matter what book I find it in it just drives me nuts! If they need a kid, just adopt one or have them save one.
I did like the writing enough to give book 2 a try, but I just can't get past the weird guy pregnancy thing. If thats not a problem for you, then the overall story wasn't bad, you might want to give it a try.
I love werewolf books and the others in the series were great so far. But I agree with a few other reviews that this one (while good) was very light and a little too short for my tastes. I even waited til the price dropped some before I bought it. maybe its just my opinion but when it first came out I couldn't justify paying almost $7 for a book as short as this one was.
Most of the books I like most are at minimum 150 pages and theres a bit more to the story. I had the feeling that this story was done with not a lot of effort in it. What little action there was is near the very end of the book. And its over quick. There wasn't much adventure or a mystery or anything to solve throughout the story like in other books in the series.
This story picks up where Liam left off. Tommy had been badly beaten by his Alpha but rescued by his brother Declan, Declan's mate Liam and Ben, the Alpha of the Atherton Pack. Ben had been working to remove the rogue Alpha but it was a little too late for Tommy.
When Ben and Tommy meet for the first time, while Tommy is unconscious from his injuries, it is clear that the two are fated to be mates. However Ben needs to fight his instant urge to look after Tommy and allow him to go home into the care of his brother.
The story shows how their romance develops slowly while Tommy recovers from the physical and emotional impacts of his assault.
I quite enjoyed this shifter story and liked the fact that most time is spent in human form. The only part I find a bit strange is the male pregnancy part. Whenever I read of this, I find it hard to just accept it as part of the story - I know I should be suspending reality given it is a book about shifters but mpreg always seems so odd to me.
3.5 stars
